The Shoppinghour Ideal

An experiment; an effort to unshackle the intellect from the restrictive practices of specialization and to celebrate unbridled interdisciplinary discourses – the harmonious coexistence and perhaps even coalescence (or contamination) of philosophy with literature, politics and art. Treating the ridiculously absurd with respect and genuine curiosity and challenging established everyday norms for simply being too suspicious. This celebration, this spontaneous and fortuitous event, is called Shoppinghour. An event that provides access, a platform, for starting discussions and exchanging ideas without restrictions: an intellectual liberation that dares to creatively approach matters of urgent political and cultural relevance with a respect that never takes itself too seriously.

What Others Say

Having worked in the global media and arts industry for the last fifteen years I have seen no other youth publication that tackles social and philosophical issues in such an in depth contemporary and relevant way. The Directors are obviously very passionate about discussion and design which are key elements in consumer engagement. Don’t Panic have supported their magazine from the outset and have seen it grow from stapled copied paper to a glossy mini magazine in the space of a year.

-Nick Agha, Director of Don’t Panic

The efforts of such enthusiastic and capable individuals are immensely valuable, both culturally as well as socially, and should not go unsupported. I am certain that, with support, Shoppinghour has the potential to flourish and establish itself as a creative/intellectual platform with a strong and engaging presence. The content is always fresh and engaging, the design is contemporary and accessible, and the motivation inspiring and hopeful.
